Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp (42g) unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 shots (60ml) strong espresso
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
Instructions:
- Place the sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar melts and transforms into a deep amber hue.
- Whisk in the butter until melted, then slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly as the mixture bubbles.
- Remove the syrup from heat and stir in the sea salt and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Brew two shots of espresso or 1/4 cup of concentrated coffee and pour directly into a serving mug.
- Heat milk to approximately 150°F (65°C) and use a handheld frother for 15-20 seconds until the milk doubles in volume with a micro-foam texture.
- Stir 2 tablespoons of the salted caramel syrup into the hot espresso.
- Gently pour the frothed milk over the coffee, topping with micro-foam and an optional drizzle of caramel and a pinch of sea salt.
