Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp (42g) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 shots (60ml) strong espresso
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk

Instructions:

  1. Place the sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar melts and transforms into a deep amber hue.
  2. Whisk in the butter until melted, then slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly as the mixture bubbles.
  3. Remove the syrup from heat and stir in the sea salt and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Brew two shots of espresso or 1/4 cup of concentrated coffee and pour directly into a serving mug.
  5. Heat milk to approximately 150°F (65°C) and use a handheld frother for 15-20 seconds until the milk doubles in volume with a micro-foam texture.
  6. Stir 2 tablespoons of the salted caramel syrup into the hot espresso.
  7. Gently pour the frothed milk over the coffee, topping with micro-foam and an optional drizzle of caramel and a pinch of sea salt.
