Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tbsp brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch fine sea salt
- 2 shots fresh espresso
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp maple syrup
Instructions:
- Combine maple syrup, brown sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium low heat.
- Stir constantly for 2-3 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the mixture looks mahogany colored.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Note: Adding vanilla at the end keeps the flavor from evaporating.
- Extract two shots of espresso.
- Pour the hot coffee into a mug and stir in 1 tablespoon of the prepared waffle syrup until fully blended.
- Heat the milk until steaming. Note: Do not let it boil or the foam will collapse.
- Use a handheld frother for 20-30 seconds, tilting the pitcher to create a velvety micro foam.
- Slowly pour the frothed milk over the sweetened espresso.
- Dollop the remaining foam on top.
- Finish with a dusting of cinnamon and a drizzle of maple syrup.
