Ingredients:
- 1 lb 93% lean ground turkey
- 0.5 tsp kosher salt
- 0.25 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tbsp avocado oil
- 0.33 cup honey
- 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
- 5 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 3 stalks green onions, sliced
Instructions:
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
- Heat the avocado oil in a large 12-inch non-stick skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Season with kosher salt and black pepper. Break the meat into large chunks and let it sit undisturbed for 3 minutes to get a dark, crispy crust, approximately 3 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and the white parts of the sliced green onions. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the aromatics are fragrant and the garlic is softened.
- Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the turkey. Stir to coat and simmer for 3-5 minutes. The sauce will reduce and thicken into a glossy glaze that clings to the meat.
- Remove from heat and garnish with the remaining green onion tops. Serve over rice or in lettuce wraps.
